Actor Collaborative Training Programme

What is ACT-PRO?

The Actor Collaborative Training Programme (ACT-PRO) and Job Creation Programme aims at providing Performing Arts and Arts Entrepreneurship training for youth who face barriers to university education due to educational disadvantages. The initiative focuses on making arts training accessible to disadvantaged communities in rural areas of the uMgungundlovu District Municipality.

The programme creates job opportunities for various arts professionals, including actors, directors, stage managers, producers, designers, and entrepreneurs, fostering a sustainable theatre ecosystem. ACT-PRO is implemented across seven Umgungundlovu District municipalities.

our main goals

The programme aims to provide tertiary-level actor training and basic arts administration with a strong practical focus, capacitating all seven municipalities of uMgungundlovu District Municipality. It prioritizes the development of industry practitioners and future theatre audiences, especially among previously disadvantaged individuals, including women, people living with disabilities, and youth. The initiative seeks to boost the local economy, establish sustainable support systems for artistic and entrepreneurial training, and position theatre as a tool for social change, transformation, and healing.
